I previously had a different book blog, and I had a bunch of problems with the hosting company I used for the blog, and all of my content was deleted. I managed to salvage some of my reviews from back then by compiling what I wrote on Goodreads, Amazon, and Barnes and Nobles review sections. I will be posting these reviews under a new blog post called Throw Back Thursday Reviews, until I have posted them all on this blog. 🙂 See some that I have already posted here.
He was a little older than he was letting on. By a few eons…
In this modern Arthurian, 17 year-old Boston high schooler Arriane, aka Ryan, DuLac just found out the guy she’s been crushing on, hot biker Matt, is a little older than he was letting on. In fact, he is really Merlin—the Merlin, King Arthur’s Merlin, the greatest wizard who ever lived. Frozen in a cave for over fifteen hundred years, he’s woken for a purpose. But Ryan’s not impressed. Tired of being a relationship loser, she’d rather kick his legendary behind.
Sure, the world has been crazy ever since the sword and the stone fell out of the sky like a meteor. But despite gruesome gargoyles, a deadly new world of magic, and the guy driving her crazy, Ryan knows that family is everything. Will Merlin sacrifice hers to save the world? Will she be able to stop him?
I did not expect to like this book, based on the title. I thought it would be some silly book about wizards; however I really did like the book! I liked reading about all of the history of King Arthur and Merlin. The book starts out pretty slow, but is interesting enough to keep you reading, and then when you get towards the end, all hell breaks loose. I am looking forward to book 2. It was a very easy read, so I finished the book in 1 day. Ryan (it’s a nickname for a girl) is the main character. She is a really strong person, her best friend dies, and she wants to fight because of that. She is in a weird love triangle with brothers Matt and Vane (both wizards). I didn’t really want her to end up with Matt, because he is always keeping secrets from her and Ryan was hurt by him. I didn’t really want her to end up with Vane either, because he seemed like a super jerk. However, by the end I loved both of them, and couldn’t wait to find out who she ended up with. Great book!
